Some may be asking why I’m even posing this questions but think about it. Des Hasler’s reason for coaching has not been to win a premiership (even if he did so along the way). His sole reason for coaching and, dare I say, reason living is to bag the refs. Even when Manly won by a large margin a ref was always at fault.
And on Sunday he had the moment he’d been waiting his whole career for. The refs had monumentally stuffed up and put Manly out of the game. Hasler would have had conflicting emotions heading to the press conference. Angry at his side blowing a 20-nil lead but also elation that it finally had all come together.
I don’t think Des has anything to coach for now. He has finally been vindicated and the rest of the season will be an anti-climax for him.
