THE Australian Rugby Union has pulled out of the chase for Johnathan Thurston - telling the rugby league superstar: "You're just not worth $2 million."

As much as I enjoy JT’s work, I think you’re right about his and his manager’s approach to this. I sincerely hope the Cowboys will also revise their reported offer, which is ludicrous. One player just isn’t worth that much.

JT does have this ability to throw the most telegraphed dummies and have everyone around fall for it like it was some sort of Copperfield-esque illusion. JT dummies to ARU, raises his profile – if only for getting his mug on the back page, pins his big ears (hidden by hair and headgear) back and scores!

Shaun, and everyone out there – WCC (World Club Challenge) Channel 9 Monday 1am. The first WCC grudge match. A rematch from two years back that the Storm lost. Leeds also coming off a loss last year to Manly. A real Aussie v Pommie game with feeling – I suggest.

MB, according the guides Nine aren’t showing it all. You’ll need Foxtel to see it. 5:30am start on Monday morning

No. I think it will be on 9 Monday at 1. They are notorious for changing their programming at the last minute. I sense the backlash 9 will try to avoid from the true league fans out there (the ones that will follow even Storm as Aussie reps to watch the first 80 minutes of the season). Having seen it listed this week in papers, indicates to me that programming has indeed changed, and what the internet shows is old news. The other pointer is the way 9 have carried the “poor olympic coverage” baton from other channels over the years. Ratings are dropping directly in proportion to the increasing air-time of Eddie’s ugly mug in place of actual olympics shown, slotted in between the all important “Eddie keep that suspense going” ad-breaks. A footy game like this 9 now see as a lot better chance of winning the 1am slot. Just another stuff-up by 9, (Kerry has quit turning in his grave, he now resembles a bloody rotisserie)but which viewers would they rather get off-side here, the 1am olympic fans, or their bread and butter league fans. I know the answer to this one.

That may be true but for 9 is going to have to do something unheard to show the game at 1am given that is about 5 hours before the scheduled kick off. :-)

Well maybe give it another 24 hours. Tuesday 1am. Strange time to watch a game that you are likely to know the result of. Will need to block my eyes and ears. Pretty poor channel 9 for not showing live a game that, for all its short-comings, still represents a champion of champions final.
