The Cronulla Sharks draw for 2010

In 2010 the Sharks will…

…do the obvious and have a better season than 2009. It is not that hard. Gallen’s niggle will help and Barrett will do a few good things. And the forward pack isn’t the worst one in the NRL. But recruitment has been a little puzzling as the Sharks’ 2010 buys are mainly journeymen or fringe first graders. They add a little bit of depth but not much that will worry the stronger clubs.

The one bright spot from last year was the Sharks’ commitment. They tried hard all through 2009 and if they can keep that spirit in 2010, they will spring some surprises if teams take them lightly. Needless to say if Barrett and Gallen are both out for any length of time, the Sharks will find it tough.

If other teams fall apart through injuries, then the Sharks may do a Bradbury and make the eight. But they aren’t going to get there on total talent alone. This will be a “rebuilding” year for The Shire.

The Sharks are $41 to win the premiership and $3.25 to make the top eight.

Poor Johnny Morris. He just can’t buy a regular starting job, can he. Keeps having to go to progressively more desperate teams.

Yep. I gather he is moving to the Sharks to grab a starting spot as hooker.

He is a player that will never lose you a game and/or do anything really stupid, but he won’t win you one either.
