I’ve admired how the Sharks have held their heads high in the midst of a dismal year, online buy Difenoxin without a prescription. Buy Difenoxin Without Prescription, They should have got a nuch deserved win last week but may get it this week. Souths have been quite inconsistent and will not be as up for this game as they were against the Dragons. The Sharks could sneak home and end a woeful year with a win.
Easts v Cowboys, Sunday 2:00pm, SFS
Given their insipid performances I doubt whether the Roosters can lift even to farewell Fitzy. They seem devoid of any spirit. The Cowboys will be not that interested either but they have the skill to win, Buy Difenoxin Without Prescription.
Newcastle v Panthers, Sunday 3:00pm, Energy Australia Stadium
The loser will not make the eight so both teams will be turning it on. The trouble with the Panthers is their lack of discipline. If they can fix that they may have a chance. But Newy at home is a tough ask. Buy Difenoxin Without Prescription, The home side advantage will be too much for the Panthers to overcome.
Brisbane v Canberra, Sunday 7:00pm, Suncorp
This won’t be a shellacking like last time. The Bronocs have rediscovered their winning ways. Canberra are a chance here of an upset but they don’t travel well. And Brisbane will be nice with warm weather which the Raiders don’t like.
The Sure Thing: Melbourne
The Roughy: Canberra

Sorry.. you mention it above. …. you broke my breaking news!
Mungo Amanda // Sep 4, 2009 at 9:29 am
There is no way the Eels are beating Saints tonight, not even with Jesus running a shepherd for Jarryd Hayne.
I’d like the Raiders to beat the Broncos because they flipping deserve it after last week and also the Knights would leap over them then into 6th.
Mungo Amanda // Sep 4, 2009 at 9:31 am
Also I would like to see whatever configuration means Newcastle has a Sydney final next week, but I can’t be bothered to work out the maths.
Shaun // Sep 4, 2009 at 9:52 am
The Eels have gone out to over $2 in the betting. Get on ‘em folks. Last chance to get the Eels at such good odds before the finals.
And don’t worry about no Hindy. A season ago, I would be worried. Not any more.
Mungo, I think best the Knights can finish is 7th or 8th. If the Dragons/Bulldogs finish top two then yes, the Knights play in Sydney. If the Titans finish second then 7th will have to go to the Gold Coast.
Mungo Amanda // Sep 4, 2009 at 10:15 am
Well I remembered I’m going to Bathurst next weekend anyway so it doesn’t matter unless its a Friday night.
Is there a finals schedule anywhere?
Mountain Boy // Sep 4, 2009 at 12:22 pm
Lots of typing about the Knights, and wondering if it will all mean Diddly S. come Sunday arvo. I’m hoping so anyway.
I have a suspicion that the Ben Rogers incident from last week – will cause further pay-back with the Knights being on the wrong side of the penalty count this week. Their punishment from the NRL to be the holders of the next mad-monday event.
St George Canterbury Melbourne Souths Gold Coast Easts Penrith Canberra
M/Premiers Bulldogs W/Spooners Sharks
(A year when Bulldogs went from last to first, and Sharks went from ‘almost’ first back to last!)
Mountain Boy // Sep 4, 2009 at 4:21 pm
Shaun – when you were asking last week for Walsh and Seccombe to step up – were you referring to Courtney ?
Should I be asking you if that’s Krisnan’s sister Christine who sings “My Island Home”?
Shaun // Sep 4, 2009 at 4:32 pm
Courtney did play for the West Indies XIII but it was as rangy second rower. But you never know, it could be an improvement if Penrith were to sign him to play in the halves.
Bismark O'Measles // Sep 4, 2009 at 8:30 pm
It’s good to be out of this MB, Shaun and Mungo. Any hope I had for my team(s) was dashed three weeks ago so I can sit back and relax.
All the best to you all though and I hope you all get whatever you want this weekend.
I don’t know if you’ve done the maths Shaun but an Eels and Warriors win on a combined differential of 87 will see you in 4th!
All the best.

Shaun // Sep 4, 2009 at 10:33 pm
Bum. A salutary lesson that poor discipline costs you games. The Eels’ completion rate was woeful and too many dumb penalties.
But the Dragons played very well and full credit to them for forcing the Eels into those mistakes.
There will be reckoning before the season is out. Mark my words.
Senex // Sep 4, 2009 at 11:25 pm
With the Tigers set to miss the finals, although they will sit at 8th until Sunday and at least one, more likely two teams to make the 8 with a negative differential, doesn’t something smell fishy to you?
Mountain Boy // Sep 5, 2009 at 12:55 am
Senex you fail to mention that every team that makes the 8 this year will have won more games than they lost. No team in the bottom half will have won more games than they lost. If you are still smelling fish then I would say just enjoy it, along with the chips, and the sporting results pages they were wrapped in – the lemon should come in handy too.
Shaun, I’m sure you may show an unlikely alliance now on Sunday. A Newcastle win and the Eels would travel back down to Kogarah. Penrith win (by a margin of less than 41) and they would then play St George, with Parra playing the out of sorts Bulldogs.
Disappointing to see the Eels not follow the lead of the Raiders, Broncos, and Rabbitohs by getting in the face of the Dragons and making it a physical battle, given it has proven to produce the results. The blueprint was there to use, but they chose not to play it that way. I know what Penrith’s tactic will be if they get the chance. I know what Parra’s tactic should be, if they get another chance.
Shaun // Sep 5, 2009 at 8:45 am
As said, the Eels were not completing their sets and that hurt them. There was no way they could get the field position to be able to pressure the Dragons by playing a physical game.
Note that in 1983, the Eels were flogged by the Dragons in the final game before the finals. We all know that happened after that.
As for who we play next, it doesn’t matter. We’ll be ready.
Mountain Boy // Sep 5, 2009 at 11:01 am
You need neither momentum, or field position to play it tough. Quite the opposite, it’s actually when you don’t have the ball – that the damage will be done. Putting a team on the back foot when they have the ball is the ‘playing tough’ I am talking about. Field position and momentum are things that will follow – but playing it tough against the Dragons must come first. If you have seen the previous few Dragons matches and not seen this happen, and Anderson has not seen this, then you better hope Penrith win tomorrow so the Eels avoid Kogarah next Sunday.
No doubt they will be ready next week – but ready to ‘play’ is another thing. Loss of Inu will hurt – even grade 1 hammies dont repair in a week.
Mountain Boy // Sep 5, 2009 at 11:40 am
Whatever happens tomorrow, win or lose, I will be happy. For a team that has won the penalty count in only (6) of its (23) games played – they have battled and done remarkably well to still be in a position to play themselves into a semi-spot in round 26.
**Just in case they do win tomorrow, don’t forget they have a record of 4 preliminary finals, 3 grand finals, and 2 premierships from just 7 finals series.
Shaun // Sep 5, 2009 at 10:51 pm
I didn’t expect Manly to so dominate the Titans. Doesn’t bode well for Gold Coast as I did see Rogers on the sideline at one stage with ice on his leg.
But I do wonder that some teams in playing hard and well this week to get a certain finals post will be flat next week.
I then switched over to the Souths v Cronulla game and what a match that was. The past 20 minute was great footy. But alas poor Sharkies, two points ahead defending their line in the final minute and Souths score.
I’ve come to admire the Sharks’ spirit over recent weeks. They are to be commended for their approach and do not deserve the spoon.
Bismark O'Measles // Sep 5, 2009 at 10:52 pm
The Tigers would have made great finalists – it’s a real shame. I put it all down to Nathan Merritt’s field goal three seconds from the hooter at the SCG.
It’s incredible to think that they would have been in the top 8 and, what’s more, on form coming into the finals if it hadn’t been for that or, for that matter, any of the other five games they lost by 2 points or less. Tragic.
Anyhow, I’ve got 5 from 5 so far and am glad I completely ignored your advice for once Shaun. Never know, I might get another 5 of my 20 bucks tipping money back….. small mercys.
I’ve got a freaky feeling that the Panthers may win tomorrow.
All the best

Mungo Amanda // Sep 6, 2009 at 10:57 am
Well I am off up to Newcastle for today’s game live and in person. Should get a sell out. Go Knights!
Bismark O'Measles // Sep 6, 2009 at 11:05 am
Good luck Mungo.
Shaun // Sep 6, 2009 at 11:39 am
Happy Father’s Day!
And it will be a lovely day for Mungo if the Central Coast weather is a guide.
Btw, a cruel fact is that the Tigers are actually in the eight at the moment.
Bismark O'Measles // Sep 6, 2009 at 1:39 pm
Same to you!
I know. Bloody Nathan Merritt!
Bismark O'Measles // Sep 6, 2009 at 1:39 pm
Oh… and in the interests of equality :
Good luck MB!
Shaun // Sep 6, 2009 at 9:53 pm
So the match ups are:
Friday: Melbourne v Manly
Saturday: Gold Coast v Brisbane and then Canterbury v Newcastle
Sunday: St George v Parramatta
Mountain Boy // Sep 7, 2009 at 12:15 am
People keep uttering the words bad luck to me, but I can’t see where luck had anything to do with it. Did Newcastle have the good luck then ?? – see what I mean?
Anyway, well done to Newcastle. At least that’s the last opposition team I will have to commend for one year.
I actually think Newcastle have a great chance at making it further. They have continued to win games when down on troops. Now that’s either through that thing called ‘luck’, or is an indication of fantastic depth and team spirit – I favour the latter. They also have a win over every top4 team this year which will always help psychologically.
Don’t count Parra out either. Most have already I would say (well except me and Shaun). It is, of course, always a lot easier for a team after a big loss to go through videos and see where you went wrong, and where you can improve – than for a team after a big win to see where they might improve their performance.
I watch the Dragons defend and what I notice unwaveringly is that they rarely make a one on one tackle. They “always” hunt in numbers – with the aim being to lock up the ball carrier very early. They aim up with three against each forward. Actually there’s probably three in most tackles they make. You don’t need to be Einstein to work out that a Hindmarsh, Mateo, or Moi Moi drawing two or three and getting the ball away will create overlaps. If Parra look to do this (which they just didn’t look to do on Friday) – and we all know that Hindmarsh will always looks to offload in traffic, then they could just wreak havoc.
Quick play the balls and dummy-half running will also help. (Offloads in traffic, and the dummy-half runs are Rabbitohs pet plays are they not?)
