The Roughy: Penrith and the Eels just because they have the Bulldogs.

With the aid of compass, set square, protractor, ruler, telescope, microscope, magnifying glass, looking glass, schooner glass, compass, 2b pencil and of course eraser – and using a combination of Pythagoras’ theorem, Newton’s unwritten law of non-relativity, Galileo’s tidal theory, and a smidgen of Sherlock Holmes deduction – I have come up with an almost perfect round of so-called upsets ….. Panthers, Raiders, Knights, Rabbitohs, Sharks, Roosters, Bulldogs, Tigers. I note the poor Eels were the odd one out. If completely wrong, all is not lost. I will think seriously about getting a new spirit level and tuning fork.

Your tip are really good mate,
dragons will have it over the knights easy
and i had to flip a coin with the bulldogs eels game, after eels effort last week was pretty good the dragons defense just didn’t let them score points. manly are a good side but i don’t get how 1 player can make them so good, Brett Steward isn’t even that good. hopefully we see big del and mad dog get it on this Saturday.
i donno what mountain boy is goin on about haha ^

I like the cut of your Jib sir. Therefore, I’m backing the Panthers as well.

I also like the looks of the rest of your ‘not-for-profit’ tips and will go with all of them except… wait for it….. the Bunnies!

I recon they’ll be practicing a bit of pass-CATCH (as opposed to DROP) this week and, if they get it right, have another very good chance this week.

I tend to agree with your Monday night tip but Pixi and I will be in the grand stand at Leichhardt urging on the Tigers.

Off to the show tomorrow… boo.

    Stupid Kevin Rudd.

But the Broncos did slip a little in the second half. The Panthers, like a few teams this year, found that poor ball control cost them in the end. The Broncs ran way in the end but what a game if could have been if the Choco Soliders had held the ball.

Thank the deity of your choice for the Titans. Had the cash on them and they (just) pulled through.

This is a great season to be honest. No team is really safe and that makes for a great comp.

ahem….. losses for the Dragons and Bunnies have ruined my weekend far more than being dragged around the show could ever have, I only have the Titans to thanks for a smidgen of salvation.

If you instruct me as to how I can post a photo on Sidelined, I will gladly share my pain with you…..

Nice job against the Dragoons Amanda. Hrmf.

I was at the game and I think the 20 point margin doesn’t tell the story. I can safely say I was witness to the most disgraceful decision I’ve ever seen made in a football match. Granted, I was unaware of the new rule where ‘no part of the body at all’ needs to exert downward pressure on the football. Instead of Penrith being 6-0 up after 15 minutes (when we all know the foundation for the game is set) – they were 6-6. Instead of being scores all-locked up with 25 to play, they continued to be 6 points down. Our mate Bill changed the game from minute 7 of the game. He did a great job of taking the crowd of the game. Did you also notice he looked forever at replays to see how he could give the Winterstein effort, but then took even longer to see how he could possibly disallow the Gordon try. For his own sake he must be most thankful this is Australia and not Columbia. Forget the protractor and compass next time, just check ref selections and if Bill is at the Penrith game, you know which team not to take.

The only positive to come out of yesterday’s game were the comments by Daniel Anderson. A welcome change from Hagan’s insipid remarks last year.

I hope Ando points at Hindmarsh and tells the rest of the team, “Play with his committment and passion. No excuses for laziness on the field. ” If the Eels did that we’d be on top fer sure.

@Mountain Boy – Yep, I couldn’t believe that the Broncs got that first try. It certainly looked liked he had dropped it even on slo mo.

@Bismarck – Hope the weather clears for you and Pixie tonight old chum. Enjoy the game.

Apologies everyone for being so upset – sometimes passion leaks comes out when the chips are down. (I see this as a positive though – I think if the players are anywhere near as upset as the fans (and I think they are) you would be saying – watch out Titans next Monday.

Not sure how to get Parra up for Suncorp next Friday – maybe try Burt at 5/8th?

**Does everyone know that the Broncos have (so far this season) been handed 10 of their first 13 games as Friday night games? An unnamed source informs me that Channel 9 requires this to be. Not hard to imagine why they are doing so well this year, when they constantly come up against a team with a shorter turn-around (eg Penrith 6 days – next week Parra 5 days). It really stinks – hope you all agree.

7/8 for me this week. Only kept from a perfect round by my wishful desire for the Manly grubs to lose. Sentimentality is always my downfall.

Well, the Storm played quite poorly and the Tigers tackled like….tigers. A great win for the Leichhardt faithful. Hope you and Pixie enjoyed it and didn’t get too wet out there Bismarck.

I wonder where Tim Sheens hid the bodies of the real Tigers.

    Mountain Boy // Apr 21, 2009 at 10:25 am

Only heard game on TripleM. Sounded like Tigers were very lucky – giving up repeat sets (repeatedly) in the second half and Storm were denied what commemtators thought was a fair try late in the game. I picked the Tigers but I had a feeling that luck would need to play a part.

    bismark O'Measles // Apr 21, 2009 at 2:27 pm

Truth be told, the Storm handed it to ‘em.

Sure there were some outstanding solo efforts from the Tiges, Little Timmy Moltzen being one of them, and they defednded their hearts-out but the Storm could’ve put another 12 on them easily.

Dropped ball (GOD it rained .. briefly) and two forward passes (that WERE forward passes) ten metres out while running the last were their downfall.

Pixi and I were sitting in the grandstand – row B which was the one that got real wet. It came and went three times and neither of us had hat or umberella – great evening though & the crowd were in fine voice.

Highlite of the night : I was sitting with a bunch of members who were of the opinion that Marshall B is vastly overrated. There was a point, on tackle 3, way into the second half when he got the ball on the centre spot and one of my member friends said ” Oh god, Marshalls got it … I bet he does something stupid like try a chip kick or something…”. Seconds later up it went, bounced once straight into the arms of Slater B – turn over on 3 at the 30m line…..sad.

4/8 this weekend. There’s always next week.
