And after round 5…

April 14th, 2009 by Shaun · 2 Comments

..am I the only one thinking the “heroic” nature of the coverage of Brett Stewart’s return was over the top and seemed oblivious of the serious charges that are still pending?

…forget the Storm this year. They have signed Brett Finch.

…does anyone think the Dragons will have their usual meltdown sometime during the season? Or has St Benny exorcised those demons?

…the tipping doesn’t seem to be getting easier.

    a) Agree. I understand about the innocent until proven guilty argument, but I also wonder if day-leave would have been approved if bail had been refused?
    b) Agree. Parra stocks just went up for losing Finch Jr (although this only half-solves their problem – pun not intended). Panther stocks also went up for dropping out of the race. Storm fans should be rightfully bewildered.
    c) Undecided. Time will obviously tell. Also a team that is making use of other team’s half rejects (Soward ex-Roosters, Head ex-Dragons then ex-Hull then ex-Tigers). Both good kicking games, so that always helps. Both susceptible to injury which is one concern. More notably, the core of this team have semi-final scars that run deep. The perennial wait (now 3 decades long) from an ever-increasingly impatient and unforgiving fan-base could again prove their undoing. The closer they get, the more impatient and unforgiving the fans become. It seems to be what gets them year after year. Quite a catch-22
    d) Have you noticed tipping the Melbourne Cup isn’t getting easier either? But would you really have it any other way? Not knowing what’s around the corner is what makes life and it’s many challenges all the more exciting and intriguing. God help the day when we all knew who was going to win and tipping was easy.
