A very interesting development as Brett Finch has asked the Eels for a release and it appears that, pending a formal announcement, will be granted.
Eels fans aren’t likely to be too upset. While never a great half back, he had commitment and on his day he could provide a good structure and kicking game. But his form has been shocking this year and the Eels attack has subsequently suffered.
He’s not the only player that the Eels paid good money for for under performing. A few others will have their careers on the line if another insipid performance against the Dragons. So he won’t be the first this season. But if the Eels are to be competitive then some players need to be honest about their form. And Daniel Anderson is very much a coach who will tell them how it is.

Congrats I reckon. I didn’t mind Finch for awhile but this year he has been terrible.
Still leaves us without a recognised halfback but based on the past few games, no-one will notice any difference.
Anderson is starting to rebuild the Eels and a few players who are a bit precious may find it tough going and be gone. May free up money for some judicious recruitment.
