As expected, Australia romped home against the Sri Lankans in the first test. Scott over at the The Corridor has a good review of what went wrong with the Muppet show.
The dominance of Australia has lead to the invetiable question of is this harming the game? It is a ridiculous question as it directs attention away from the state of the game in other countries which is the real problem, not Australia’s seemingly endless resource of players. John Buchanan has thunk outside the box and suggested that cricketers could choose to play for country of their choice rather then restrained by their nationality. The ICC is considering the idea.
As for the Second Test, I expect more of the same. Malinga should get a run which will boost the Sri Lankan attack. The Bellerive pitch is alleged to be a little more bowler friendly than the past. But that also plays to the Aussie’s strengths as well.
I suspect the Aussie will dominate again and Murali, now friends again with Warney, go home without the wicket taking record.
