Free Willie

November 7th, 2007 by Shaun · 2 Comments

It’s supposed to be the NRL off season but Willie Mason has been creating quite a bit of noise. After a few run-ins with the Belmore management, Mason is now a free agent.

It is one of those situations where a player has put themselves above the club and the Bulldogs management have made the correct decision. Put money on Mason signing with the Roosters (if they can fit him under the cap which will be tricky). It will be interesting to see if Fittler can turn Mason’s focus onto the field.

I suspect he will go to Cronulla. They have capacity under the cap. And the coach is the Australian coach.

Noad has to be congratulated. The Dogs need a ‘culture change’ big time.

But there is a long way to go. Imagine 12 players turning up to support Mason. Please.

The Dogs do have some problems. The game left Steve Folkes’ idea of playing footy behind two seasons ago. The Bulldogs will need to radically reinvent their game this year.
