Rugger Flips the Switch to Mockumentary

October 25th, 2007 by Mungo Amanda · 3 Comments

One of the more hilarious sporting sub plots of this year is the elevation of Alan Jones to serious Wallabies coach contender on a creeping miasma of self-generated noise and media credulity. QRU boss Peter Lewis threw out some speculative rhetoric on the need to make a radical choice as the next coach, and the next you know the Parrot is all “ask not what your country can do for you …”

“If Peter Lewis and the Queensland Rugby Union - who have played a major role in Australian rugby for many years - are of the view I am the person who can make that contribution then I am obligated to put my hand up and say, ‘Well if that is the case, I’m available’.

It is all very similar to the reaction of the cast in For Your Consideration when some random on the internet mentions the phrase “oscar buzz” in connection with them. Who me? Well, I never! Not that I care for such trifles. But if you insist …

Alan Jones IS Marilyn Hack.

There is a meta argument re how the media can turn molehills into mountains through incredulous reporting.

If you saw South Side Story you’d get an idea of the tactical nous of Jones. Jeez, does his ego know no bounds?

No! And the evidence is there for all to see, over a long period of time.
