This is the busiest time of my year – the time when all the deadlines I have ever had coalesce, whilst working three jobs, and being a single parent (my now ex-partner ALWAYS goes away at this time). And then there’s the only real reason to live, finals football.
66%/$1.57 Power Eagles $2.35/34%
30%/$2.25 Hawks Crows $1.60/70%
25%/$2.02 Magpies Swans $1.74/75%
93%/$1.24 Cats Kangaroos $3.75/7%
I like the Power, the Crows (because of their better finals experience), the Cats and, in a shocking against the trend decision, the Pies. The Pies are finals experienced, and have had the measure of the Swans twice already this season. Last week’s blistering performance by the Swans against the Hawks is meaningless in this context – they weren’t really stretched, and so it’s time for reckoning.
By the way, my tipping experiment proved that the punters are always right by the way – or at least, more right than I was. I think I ended up about eight or nine games below them, which would probably be all those blown Bombers games. C’est la vie (in the life of a fan). But as I always wanted to test the mettle of the punters as a means of checking how accurate the punting on election odds might be, I’m satisfied. Looks like Rudd will be PM.

Whoo hoo!! Port are up, by just three points over a desperate West Coast.

Bum! The Crows went down to the Hawks by 3 points, but well done to the Hawks for defying the odds and getting through to the next round.

HOORAY!! The Swans are out of the finals, after the Pies did them over royally.
I am going to watch the game tomorrow arvo, with a rugby tragic, and will impart my knowledge of the game unto mine host. The price I am to pay for the privilege is being forced to sit through an entire Rugby Union World Cup match. At least my host likes the history of Nazi Germany and will probably be aware of the nasty influence of Petain.

Thanks for the reports over the season Five on your battle with the punters. I’ve enjoyed the ebb and flow of the contest.
Don’t worry about watching rugby. You get plenty of rest every time a scrum is set.
