Retired Australian swimmer Ian Thorpe has been cleared by Australia’s drugs testing agency after recording an an abnormal test result last year.
The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) made the announcement during a press conference in Melbourne this afternoon.
Thorpe had provided ASADA with medical evidence in an attempt to clear his name of doping.
He had given ASADA records which he hoped would explain why he returned abnormal levels to two banned substances from a urine sample he gave in May 2006.
Good to know he’s ovulating normally.

Surely if he was taking stuff that could have contributed to higher than normal levels of tested substances or hormones, he should have notified them at the time? I know when I was taking steroids for an illness that I made sure that I got a letter from my doctor on the off chance that I was tested at our Nationals.

It’s a peculiar case DJ, but reading more on this and listening to Richard Ings I’m prepared to let this one through to the keeper if only because I trust ASADA.
Not much choice but to do that really, they are the final arbiter.

Yes, that’s a fair enough comment Phil.
