Mariners vs Wellington 8pm 31/8.07 @ Bluetongue

Should be an interesting match. The Mariners at home are going to be a formidable opponent for Nix, and overall have the edge over Wellington at back and mid, so long as Petrovski and Mrdja take their chances this could be very one-sided. If they don’t last weeks performance shows the Nix have ample grit to get themselves back in the game.

2-0 Fisherfolk

SFC vs Adelaide 5pm 1/9/07 @ SFS

Looking pretty grim for the home side – Branko will be hoping Patrick can do what Zdrillic and Brosque can’t. I can’t seem to shake the feeling that Branko will again try a back four, but he shouldn’t and our backline should be stable enough. It better be, as Djite and Burns are going to put it to its limits, unhindered by sick Mark Miligan and Terry McFlynn who’s been nerfed by the FFA postmatch committee in all its wisdom.

2-1 Reds

Melbourne
vs Perth

Victory should win this, Perth were shocking last week and need Bertos and midfield to switch on, they’ll miss Tarka at the back too. But the home side aren’t without their own defense issues with Leijer departed and Milicevic out for a few weeks. This could give Rutyavyskaya the room to make a contest of it, but favouritism rests with Victory and it’s 20,000 passionate paid-up members.

3-1 Blue and White

Newcastle vs Queensland

This match is going to go to the Roar, and but for the fact they’re looking at three suspended defenders (Seo, Moore and probably Tiatto) I would’ve called a massacre in waiting. Van Egmond is staring at another couple of weeks of crud until he can get his team into shape, while Farina and co are out to get this one in spades to make up for last week’s disappointment.

3-1, the Oranje

The strikers fired, 3-0. You have to worry about Melbourne, CCM were on autopilot.

Bah, another frustrating game. Popovic was getting dizzy trying to keep up with Burns and Djite — who had a deadset goal denied by the flukiest of clearances by Corica (not that I’m complaining). Juninho hit the crossbar and made Bajic stretch to the absolute limit before setting up Brosque, who was also frustating. We were better in the second half with Da Silva, who looks the goods, and Zadkovich was looking pretty neat as a sweeper, until he fluffed a clearance and set up a farcical display of backline incomptence which ended in unmarked Boo-urns slipping in, right after we’d gone ahead. Middleby was awesome, and Bolton had a shocker, he’s lucky Necevski did his ankles in.

In other news Perth and Victory played a scoreless draw that was apparently a more entertaining than Glory’s other scoreless draw. Crowd was 31k odd, puts us and the Coasties’ feeble efforts to shame. Fire up NSW! The outcome of Sunday’s match is now completely open, as Roar have lost Ogenovski and Milicic to injuries — can Farina’s youth squad cover for them? Who knows, but Newwie are still blah, imo and I’m still giving it to Oranje.
