let us not forget the magnificent Aussie fans.

It was they as much as the team that made the Aussies every one's second team at the world cup.
The Italians could not get over the fact Aussie fans were very willing to have a friendly drink after the Eyties dudded us out of the cup.
They said if the result was reversed there would be riots.

The fans were full of humour rather than of grog, good sports, had a good knowledge of the sport and lifted the team.
