State of Origin Game II live blogging

June 13th, 2007 by Shaun · 39 Comments

Welcome to the live blog for State of Origin II. I’m off to have dinner and will be back for kick-off.

Pepper steak if you want to know.

Now, some people have questioned my objectivity in regards to live blogging the game. I have no allegiance to either the mighty Blues or the middling Maroons. I will treat both teams with fairness; those brave lads from NSW and the mob from up north. I hope that settles things.

The players are coming onto to the field. Please stand for the ritual mangling of the national anthem, Khe San.

Friggin’ Guy Sebastian! Bring back Barnsey!

Here we go!

2nd minute – NSW started off well. Keeping QLD in their half.

5th minute – Cooper is injured. Stewart off to a good start at the back for NSW

7th minute – Great work from Kimmorely and then Lyon for an almost try to King.

7th minute – Price knocks on! Great tackle from Buderus.

STEWART!!!!!!!!!!

8th minute – Brett Stewart goes over from dummy half. On the back of a great run by Simpson.

10th minute – Lyon converts and NSW lead 6-0

14th minute – Mason drops the ball. Scrum to QLD

14th minute – QLD raid breaks down. Good work by Anasta

19th minute – dangerous kick from Hodges well defused by Stewart. NSW to drop out.

21st minute – Damn. I look awat and Inglis somehow scores. Great pass from Cameron Smith.

Sorry, had to look after the baby

25th minute – Cooper knocks on QLD on the attack.

27th minute – Anasta covers up in-goal

28th minute – The Walking Chin held up in goal. Great defense by NSW

29th minute – Kick by Thurston just goes dead. 20 metre restart to NSW

30th minute – Tate lets a Kimmorely kick go and it bounces over the line. Great first half by Noddy so far.

33rd minute – QLD making big metres up the middle. NSW working out after Costigan loses the ball

35 minute – Hindy on the bench. QLD sure to score now.

37th minute – Great take by Stewart

38th minute – QLD force Hayne in goal so a drop out from NSW

40th minute – Scores locked at 6 all

Half Time – QLD have been looking better but NSW has held on. Amazingly no penalties so far. Noddy has been kicking well but need to get some time down QLDs end of the field. If QLD can still create more inroads through dummy half that will win them the game.

Sorry. More baby duties. I’m back.

43rd minute – Kick by Lyon almost taken by Stewart. QLD take it back up field.

45th minute – Great kick and chase by Noddy.

48th minute – oh so close for Inglis from a Thurston kick. NSW get a 20 metre restart.

51st minute – a penalty! To NSW for hand on the ball from Petero.

53rd minute – NSW 5th tackle options aren’t great. But great defense sees QLD finding it hard to get out of their half.

55th minute – Much better by Noddy. NSW in QLD’s 10 and a Noddy kick is helped over the line by QLD so a drop out

58th minute – Lockyer knocks on and NSW run it back to the halfway from the scrum

60th minute – Tate seems injured. Goal line drop out for NSW again. They are keeping the pressure on QLD.

61st minute – Tight game still. QLD having trouble getting out of their half but NSW seem to offer nothing in attack

62 minute – Bailey puts Price down and QLD’s first penalty

64th minute – Bell in after a Thurston kick. QLD hit the front. 10 -6

65th minute – Thurston misses so the score remains 10-6 to QLD

69th minute – Simpson knocks on. NSW will be needing a miracle to win.

71st minute – Noddy chips over the top, Stewart regathers but 6th tackle.

72nd minute – QLD knocks on on the NSW 20.

73rd minute – NSW have nothing in attack.

75th minute – NSW get a penalty for the ball being stripped. It could be their last chance to score and win the game

76th minute – Another penaly to NSW very close to QLD line.

77th minute – Mason hand the ball over to QLD. All over for NSW

Berrigan in but a hint of knock on.

78th minute – No try! A scrum for NSW last chance to win!

79th minute – NSW get a scrum. 40 seconds left to win!

And the battery on my laptops dies but the hoodoo is broken! QLD win State of Origin for 2007
