Ray Price |
Worrisome news for Eels and league fan in general with the news that Parra great Ray Price has undergone surgery for bowel cancer. The good news is that Price and his surgeon are confident that they have removed the tumour:
Price said scans revealed the “silent killer” cancer had not spread to other organs and he is now awaiting the final all-clear from his surgeon.
But the dual international is confident he’ll recover.
“He (the surgeon) seems to think that he got it,” Price said.
From an excellent Daily Telegraph article on Price and the bonds that are still shared between the great Eels players of the 80s. Price was an inspirational player and captain. I remember one game where he’d been hit so hard and was down and out but got back to his feet and continued playing. He just could keep going and going. Not unlike a shaggy haired second rower doing much the same for the Eels today.

Gee you never know, I live right near the guy, thats awful.
Its good that he’s come out with his story and warning for others to check, I’m pushing 50, I’m going to go to the Doctors to do the tests now.
I can only wish him all the best
Neil
