This is my first post (and about time! I can hear Shaun saying) due to the pressure of other commitments (what sort of sense of priorities is this?).
So much to write about and so little time – the Poms ambush the Kangaroos, Wales and Wallabies draw, bad press for a bad Carlton boy on tour in Ireland, “Rain, no play” in Sydney grade.
Sorry to say this is a token appearance, must dash, will leave you with something from another site of mine, a piece about the truly intriguing history of cricket. The way the game got started as a vehicle for betting by the English nobility and the way the first international tours were commercial ventures.

there is a quote by some French person of note following the revolutions of 1848 to the tune of how could one expect a revolution where the lord of the manor is laying cricket on the village green against very people who are beholden to him!

Welcome Rafe, it’s an absolute pleasure to share the same pages with you and looking forward to your great writing.
I think we’re going to have to do a post for Jason Soon on boxing, just so he reads this every once in a while.
